Legal issues are becoming as important as any other in promoting or limiting the development of GIS technology. Certainly legal considerations must now be kept in mind during the creation and implementation of large public and private GIS projects.

Debate focuses on a number of key issues and questions:

This workshop is designed to familiarize the GIS professional, and non GIS professional with the terms and legalities surrounding the use of GIS and the associated inherent legal issues concerning GIS. Legal issues in the field of GIS are appearing in the courts at an ever expanding rate. Be sure you have the knowledge to recognize legal issues surrounding GIS.
